ADIA Forum 2024: Higher Education’s Commitment in Facing the Digital Era

HUMANIORA – (19/5/2024) To strengthen the role of adab and humanities sciences in the digital era, leaders from the Faculty of Humanities met with the leaders of adab sciences faculties within the PTKIN scope in Indonesia to build a shared commitment and sign Inter-Institutional Cooperation Agreements (PKS). This meeting was part of the Forum of the Association of Adab Sciences Lecturers (ADIA) throughout Indonesia and the 2024 International Conference, held at Hermes Palace Hotel, Banda Aceh (18/5).
One of the main commitments is to optimize the role of the ADIA Association in supporting the improvement of academic quality. This includes initiatives to strengthen cooperation between study programs and ensure that the quality of education meets established quality standards.
In the discussion, faculty leaders agreed to adopt an Outcome-Based Education (OBE) curriculum. This is to ensure that graduates have competencies that align with industry standards and societal needs.
On the other hand, cooperation in research and community service also received primary attention. These two elements of the tri dharma of higher education will be implemented collaboratively, aiming to solve real-world problems and enhance the contribution of academics to social development.
Regarding recognition enhancement, lecturer collaboration will also be strengthened through guest lecturer programs, Focus Group Discussions (FGD), and cross-university thesis examinations. This step is expected to enrich the academic insights and experiences of both lecturers and students. Implementing guest lecturer exchanges among PTKIN will enrich students' learning experiences and improve lecturers' competencies through cross-institutional exposure.
Meanwhile, in the same forum, leaders also committed to continuously improving communication and sharing experiences, enhancing the implementation of the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) program. This aims to provide more flexible and relevant learning opportunities for students.
This meeting is expected to have a positive impact on the development of adab and humanities sciences in Indonesia and increase synergy and collaboration among PTKIN to achieve better educational goals. The commitments made demonstrate the dedication of faculty leaders to addressing the challenges of the digital era and ensuring graduates are competent and competitive on a global scale. [al]
