Congratulations, Humaniora Student Wins Bronze Medal in National Scientific Writing Competition

HUMANIORA - (9/14/2023) Aldrian, a student from the Faculty of Humanities at UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang, has achieved outstanding success by winning a bronze medal in the National Scientific Writing Competition (LKTI) organized by the University of Brawijaya, Malang, in 2023. Aldrian, a student of the Arabic Language and Literature program, captivated the judges with his work titled "Pesantren on Screen and Page: Reconstructing the Image of Pesantren Through Media and Popular Literature." Previously, his article successfully passed the rigorous preliminary rounds and was among the top 209 selected articles.
In his article, Aldrian discusses the often negative image of pesantren that frequently permeates society, creating an unfavorable stigma about pesantren in Indonesia. However, pesantren plays a crucial role as an educational institution focused on the moral and character development of its students.
Under the guidance of Professor Dien Nur Chotimah, M.Pd., this student emphasizes the importance of reconstructing the image of pesantren through media and popular literature as an effort to stimulate a positive view of pesantren.
Aldrian also collaborated with two other students, Mellinda Raswari Jambak and Septi Lestari, both of whom are also students of the Arabic Language and Literature program, class of 2020. Together, they composed a scientific article reflecting the transformation of pesantren, the role of santri as progressive seekers of knowledge, and the democratic culture within pesantren.
Aldrian's victory is not only a source of pride for the Faculty of Humanities at UIN Malang but also creates an opportunity to spread a better understanding of pesantren and its role in society. This article reflects Aldrian's determination to overcome negative stigmas and provide a more positive and inclusive perspective on pesantren in Indonesia.
The Faculty of Humanities at UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang congratulates Aldrian on his outstanding achievement in this national-level LKTI and hopes that his research spirit and scholarly work will continue to flourish in the future. [al]
