Continuing the MBKM Program, English Literature Study Program Holds Socialization on Journal Articles as Thesis Alternatives

HUMANIORA - (4/4/2024) The English Literature Study Program at the Faculty of Humanities, UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang, held a socialization on journal articles as alternatives to theses on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, through the Zoom platform. In the event, the Head of the English Literature Study Program, Ribut Wahyudi, Ph.D., explained that the program is part of the MBKM Program which provides an alternative final assignment for students besides a thesis.
Ribut also informed that three students from the first batch, namely the 2020 batch, have published their articles in Sinta 2, Sinta 3, and Sinta 4 journals. In addition, two other students have received Letters of Acceptance (LoA) for their articles.
Highlighting the selection process, the Head of the Program suggested that interested students prepare their proposals well, as the proposal selection will take place after Eid al-Fitr. Furthermore, he encouraged selected students to consult intensively with their supervising lecturers and submit their articles at the beginning or middle of the 7th semester.
Meanwhile, the Vice-Head of the English Literature Study Program, M. Edy Thoyib, M.A., urged students to carefully read the faculty handbook which contains the requirements and regulations for writing journal articles as thesis alternatives on the faculty's website.
In the event, two students from the 2020 batch, Ula R. Rohmah and Santi Agustin, who have successfully published journal articles as thesis alternatives, provided testimonials about their writing and publication processes. Ula also shared her experience regarding the post-publication thesis defense, which she found to be lighter compared to a regular thesis defense.
This socialization event was attended by more than 80 students with high enthusiasm. The journal article program as a thesis alternative is expected to provide new opportunities for students to complete their studies more diversely and gain valuable experience in the academic world.
