Discussing Ecohumanism, Faculty of Humanities Brings in Literature Expert from Singapore

HUMANIORA – (10/19/2023) - The Faculty of Humanities at UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang successfully organized the International Scholar's Engagement event on Thursday, October 19, 2023. The event, titled "From Humanism to Ecohumanism: Humanities Engaging Global Challenges," was held in the third-floor theater of the Faculty of Humanities.

This event garnered attention for featuring an experienced speaker, Dr. Azhar Ibrahim Alwee from the Department of Malay Studies at the National University of Singapore (NUS).

The event received a warm welcome from the faculty's leaders, lecturers, and students, who filled the theater. In his opening speech, the Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, Dr. M. Faisol, expressed his deep gratitude to Dr. Azhar Ibrahim for his willingness to be present at the Faculty of Humanities. He hoped that Dr. Azhar's presence in the Faculty of Humanities would broaden the horizons of all those in attendance, especially regarding the issues of the development of the humanities in the contemporary era.

"Exchanging views and academic discussions are essential foundations in addressing the ever-evolving changes and challenges in the contemporary era," he said. The event was attended by faculty members and students from the Faculty of Humanities. Guided by moderator Muhammad Anwar Mas'adi, MA, the event proceeded smoothly. Participants appeared spirited and enthusiastic throughout the event, which continued until noon.

This event serves as a tangible demonstration of the Faculty of Humanities' commitment to bridging scientific studies to address pressing global challenges. It is expected that the International Scholar's Engagement event will instill new enthusiasm for exploring knowledge and understanding the role of the humanities in dealing with increasingly complex global issues.
