Enhancing International Reputation, Humanities Faculty Conducts Community Service in Thailand

HUMANIORA – (August 15, 2024) An international community service program is a tangible manifestation of an academic institution's commitment to disseminating knowledge and skills worldwide. For the Faculty of Humanities at UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang, this program serves as a means to extend its positive impact not only domestically but also globally. An example of this effort is the community service activity carried out by a faculty member, Abdul Muntaqim Al Anshory, at Pattana Wittaya School, Thailand, on Wednesday, August 14, 2024.

Under the theme "Kitabah I'tiyadiyyah: The Art of Arabic Calligraphy for Beginners," the activity was aimed at Secondary Class students. In this training, Abdul Muntaqim introduced the basic principles of writing Arabic letters correctly using a pen.

This community service focused on helping students understand the basic structure of Arabic letters, master proper writing techniques, and build a strong foundation in calligraphy. Additionally, students were trained to improve the accuracy and clarity of their writing and to develop consistent and neat writing skills, both in regular script and calligraphy.

Dr. Abdul Muntaqim noted that the students' response was very positive. "They were happy to learn the correct basic structure of each Arabic letter and were enthusiastic about continuing their practice at home."

Furthermore, Dr. Abdul Muntaqim expressed his satisfaction with the implementation of this activity. "I was very impressed with the enthusiasm of the students at Pattana Wittaya School. They showed remarkable eagerness to learn the art of Arabic calligraphy. This demonstrates that cultural introduction through language can bridge understanding and foster better cross-cultural collaboration," he said.

Meanwhile, the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs of the Faculty of Humanities, Dr. Halimi, also expressed his appreciation for the successful implementation of the program. "Community service programs like this are crucial in strengthening the role of academics on the international stage. The activity conducted by Dr. Abdul Muntaqim not only enhanced the competencies of students at Pattana Wittaya School but also strengthened the good relationship between Indonesia and Thailand in the field of education," stated Dr. Halimi.
