
Enhancing Professional Competence: Humaniora Civitas Participate in Professional Certification Exams
HUMANIORA - (21/6/2024) In an effort to enhance professional competence in the fields of design and information technology, lecturers, academic staff, and students of the Faculty of Humanities at UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang participated in professional certification exams in Image Editing and Photography. This certification exam took place on Friday, June 21, 2024, in the Language Laboratory Room 2 of the Faculty of Humanities.

This certification initiative was organized in collaboration with the Professional Certification Institute P3 Digital Design Singhasari (LSP P3 DDS). LSP P3 DDS sent two competency assessors, Novin Farid Styo Wibowo and Lailatul Husniah, to evaluate the participants' skills.The exam scheme applied included the Image Editor Occupation Scheme and the Junior Photographer Occupation Scheme, with the testing method being observation and demonstration. This method included a series of written tests, interviews, followed by practical design and photography exercises.
The competency units tested in the Image Editor Occupation Scheme included operating design software, creating production-ready materials by applying basic design and communication principles, followed by visual editing practice using graphic design software. The Junior Photographer Occupation Scheme covered basic camera techniques such as shutter speed, ISO, and aperture, as well as the ability to work in a team, followed by product photography practice.Competency assessor from LSP Digital Design Singhasari, Novin Farid Styo Wibowo, provided an overview of the competency exam. "This certification exam is a strategic step to ensure that participants have skills that meet industry standards. We hope that through this certification, lecturers and students can enhance their competency quality and gain confidence in facing professional challenges," said Novin.

Meanwhile, the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs of the Faculty of Humanities, Dr. Halimi, expressed his appreciation for this activity. "This professional certification agenda is very important for our lecturers and students. With this certification, we hope they can possess professionally recognized competencies and be ready to compete in the creative industry that increasingly demands high skills. Certification is not just recognition but also a valuable asset for their future careers," said Dr. Halimi.One of the certification exam participants, Emma, also shared her experience. "Participating in this certification exam has given me more insight and confidence in the field of graphic design. I feel enthusiastic about this activity. I feel more prepared to face the job market and confident in my skills," Emma expressed enthusiastically.
This activity reflects the commitment of the Faculty of Humanities at UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang to provide quality education that is relevant to industry needs. By continuously enhancing professional competence and certification, the faculty hopes to produce graduates who not only possess theoretical knowledge but also practical skills recognized in the workforce.
