Faculty of Humanities Holds Coordination Meeting for Internships, Vice Dean Highlights Crucial Role of Field Supervisors

HUMANIORA – (July 2, 2024) The Faculty of Humanities at the State Islamic University Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang held a coordination meeting for the odd semester Field Work Practice (PKL) for the 2024/2025 academic year with Field Supervisors (DPL) on Tuesday, July 2, 2024. This meeting was an essential step in preparing for the implementation of PKL, scheduled to take place from July 10 to August 20, 2024.
In his opening remarks, the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs of the Faculty of Humanities, Dr. Halimi, emphasized the importance of the role of DPL in the success of PKL. "Coordination with Field Supervisors is crucial to ensure that each student receives optimal guidance during their PKL," he said.
Dr. Halimi reminded the attendees of the important duties and roles of DPLs in guiding, engaging students, and providing supervision, direction, and support to PKL students. DPLs are expected to conduct regular and programmed visits, gather information, and address any issues that arise in the field to ensure the smooth execution of PKL.
"DPLs must actively ensure the smooth and successful implementation of PKL by maintaining continuous communication with both students and the institutions where they are conducting their internships," he added.
Furthermore, the Vice Dean highlighted that PKL is part of the Faculty of Humanities' commitment to producing graduates who are ready to compete in the job market. "With the support of various partner institutions, we hope that students can take advantage of this opportunity to apply the knowledge they have gained in college and develop relevant practical skills," he concluded.
This year, the PKL program will involve 370 students who will be placed in 60 partner institutions of the Faculty of Humanities. Students will undertake PKL according to their chosen professional fields, such as translation, journalism, teaching, diplomacy, tourism, and cinematography. The participating partner institutions are spread across various cities in Indonesia, including BP3MI Yogyakarta, the Jakarta Historical Museum, CV. Lingkar Media Yogyakarta, TVRI Parlemen Jakarta, PT Stechoq Robotika Indonesia, and others.
The coordination meeting proceeded smoothly, strengthening the synergy between the Faculty of Humanities, Field Supervisors, and partner institutions. The Faculty of Humanities at UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang is optimistic that this year's PKL program will make a significant contribution to enhancing student competencies, preparing them to face real-world challenges in the job market.
