Faculty of Humanities Launches Flagship I-MOVE Program: Enhancing Students’ Global Perspective and Expertise

MALANG - (25/9/2024) The Faculty of Humanities at Universitas Islam Negeri Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang (UIN Malang) is set to launch its flagship program, the International Masterclass for Overarching View and Expertise (I-MOVE), on Friday, September 27, 2024. This distinguished program is specifically designed to broaden students' academic horizons with a range of interesting and relevant topics, including literature, culture, gender issues, intellectual thought, and scholarship opportunities. Through this initiative, the Faculty of Humanities aims to enhance students' capacity to navigate the increasingly dynamic landscape of knowledge.
I-MOVE will not only feature intensive lectures but also offer in-depth research workshops, giving students the opportunity to engage in high-quality academic discussions and interdisciplinary research. The program is expected to provide a platform for students to develop critical and profound understanding of various global issues related to humanities studies, while also strengthening their academic and research skills.
One of the key features of I-MOVE is the presence of international mentors who will guide students directly. Prof. Dr. Azhar Ibrahim, a senior lecturer from the Department of Malay Studies at the National University of Singapore (NUS), will be the main mentor for this program. With his rich academic background and extensive international experience, Prof. Azhar will provide intensive guidance to participants, equipping them with new insights in fields related to literature, culture, and scholarly thought.
Dr. M. Faisol, M.Ag., Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, stated that the I-MOVE program is a strategic effort by the Faculty of Humanities to provide students with an international standard learning experience.
“We hope that I-MOVE will open broader access for students to explore their academic potential and provide a learning experience that is not only locally based but also global,” said Dr. Faisol.
He also added that this program will enrich students' knowledge with new perspectives and help develop their critical abilities in addressing contemporary issues in the field of humanities.
The Faculty of Humanities will conduct a rigorous selection process to choose 20 students eligible to participate in I-MOVE. Priority will be given to active students in their 5th or 7th semester who demonstrate a strong commitment to completing the entire program. The selected students are expected to become agents of change in the academic field by applying the knowledge and insights gained from this program to broader contexts.
The I-MOVE program represents a progressive step by the Faculty of Humanities at UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang in delivering educational innovation that meets the challenges of the times. By combining in-depth academic study and expert mentoring, it is hoped that the participating students will enhance their personal qualities and contribute significantly to the advancement of knowledge, both at the national and international levels.
