First Lecture in the Month of Fasting, Humanities Students Maintain High Spirits

HUMANIORA - (13/3/2024) Students of the Faculty of Humanities at UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang showed high spirits on the first day of classes in the month of Ramadan 1445 H (13/3). Despite fasting from dawn until dusk often being considered to potentially decrease stamina, their enthusiasm for learning remained high.
Class activities in the Oesman Mansoer building began at 7 a.m. during the month of Ramadan, in line with the adjustment of class schedules outlined in Rector's Decree number 31 of 2024 regarding the Revision of the Academic Calendar for the Academic Year 2023/2024. One of the classes held was the Istima' class for 4th-semester students taught by lecturer Khafid Roziki, M.Pd. The students were seen participating in the lecture with enthusiasm and eagerness.
Salwa Aryantika, a student from Pati, Central Java, stated that despite fasting, she remained enthusiastic about attending class. According to her, Ramadan is a blessed moment that should be utilized to strive for goodness, including increasing enthusiasm for learning.
"Fasting should still be spirited. Moreover, during Ramadan, the more goodness, the more rewards," she said.
Similar sentiments were expressed by Candra Alim, who emphasized that fasting is not an excuse to be lazy. On the contrary, for him, students should be even more enthusiastic about seeking knowledge, as it can bring multiplied blessings.
"Good deeds are multiplied during Ramadan. Moreover, the schedule has been adjusted, so classes should remain spirited," he explained.
The enthusiasm shown by the students of the Faculty of Humanities reflects their ability to interpret Ramadan with positive activities. They believe that among worship, diligent learning and seeking knowledge are religious obligations that must be carried out with full enthusiasm. [al]
