Golden Opportunity: Humanities Students Set to Join Student Exchange in France

HUMANIORA – (15/10/2024) Two students from the Faculty of Humanities at UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang are ready to fly to France. Khoirotun Nisak, a 7th-semester student from the English Literature Program, and Ummu Kultsum Naviza, a 5th-semester student from the Arabic Language and Literature Program, have been selected to participate in the 2024 Student Exchange program at Sciences Po University, Paris, France. This program will take place over two weeks, from October 28 to November 11, 2024, at the campus located at 27 Rue Saint-Guillaume, 75007 Paris.

This Student Exchange program is one of UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang’s strategic steps in realizing integrative higher education that combines modern knowledge with Islamic values while adhering to international standards. Through the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, which encompasses education, research, and community service, the university is committed to producing outstanding human resources who can compete globally while upholding local values and national dignity.

Khoirotun Nisak, a student from Poncokusumo, Malang, expressed her gratitude for fulfilling her childhood dream through this program. "This dream has finally come true after shedding many tears and sweat. I hope to actively contribute during the program and serve as a cultural, linguistic, and religious ambassador, spreading wisdom and the spirit of tolerance at every opportunity," she said enthusiastically.

Meanwhile, Ummu Kultsum Naviza also shared her gratitude and happiness for being part of this program. "I am so excited to be part of this year's student exchange program, especially since I will meet outstanding friends from various disciplines at UIN Malang. I hope this program benefits not only myself but also those around me, the institution, and the country," said the Arabic Language and Literature student.

Both students will join 27 other students from various study programs and faculties at UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang. In addition to gaining academic knowledge, they will also serve as university ambassadors in fostering international academic collaborations.

The Vice Dean for Cooperation and Student Affairs of the Faculty of Humanities, Dr. Galuh Nur Rohmah, expressed her appreciation during the send-off ceremony. "This program is not just an academic opportunity; it is also a platform for students to introduce Indonesia's identity and culture to the world. I hope they bring the universal spirit of humanities and become excellent ambassadors for both the university and Indonesia on the international stage," she stated.

This Student Exchange program is a concrete step by UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang in expanding its global academic network and providing students with the opportunity to experience studying abroad. It is hoped that through this program, students will not only enhance their academic abilities but also play a role in strengthening international relations through cross-cultural dialogue. [al]
