Head of BP3MI Jatim Emphasizes Urgency of PMI Protection in PKL Preparation

HUMANIORA – (16/7/2024) To enhance understanding of the importance of protection for Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI), the Faculty of Humanities at Maulana Malik Ibrahim State Islamic University Malang invited the Head of the Indonesian Migrant Workers Protection Agency (BP3MI) East Java, Titis Wulandari, S.Psi., MM., to deliver a lecture in the series of Practical Fieldwork Preparation (PKL) activities in the theater room of the Faculty of Humanities, UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang, on July 3, 2024.
On this occasion, Titis Wulandari explained that BP3MI East Java is a service unit within the BP2MI that is responsible for facilitating the processing of all placement documents, protection, and resolution of PMI issues in a coordinated and integrated manner within their respective working areas. "The role of BP3MI is crucial in implementing policies related to the placement and protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers in an integrated manner," said Titis.
She emphasized that PMI are foreign exchange heroes for Indonesia. Therefore, BP3MI has undertaken various protection efforts before employment, during employment in the destination country, and after employment. "Protection of PMI is our top priority. We strive to ensure that they receive proper and safe working rights," she added.
Titis Wulandari also described three different types of PMI based on their workplaces, namely PMI who work for companies or legal entities such as factories, hospitals, and hotels.
