The event was held vibrantly at the third-floor theater of the Faculty of Humaniora and was attended by 12 foreign students from various countries. The participants of I-YES 2023 are students hailing from different parts of the world, representing nations such as Zimbabwe, Pakistan, Sudan, Afghanistan, Uganda, Singapore, Kyrgyz Republic, Bangladesh, Yemen, and Nigeria. This diversity among international students injects fresh enthusiasm into facing the era of globalization and enhancing cross-cultural collaboration within the realm of education. Present at the opening event were the entire UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang academic community, including faculty members, students, educational staff, as well as sponsor partners who supported the implementation of the I-YES 2023 activities, such as PT. Cahaya Abadi Pratama Indonesia, Bank Syariah Indonesia, and Cultural Ambassadors of Malang City. On this occasion, Dr. M. Faisol, the Dean of the Faculty of Humaniora at UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang, conveyed that the I-YES 2023 Program is part of the faculty's vision and mission to achieve globally aware education. In the current digital era, globally aware education is of paramount importance in facing the challenges and changes taking place worldwide. "Globally aware education is the key to addressing the changes and challenges in this digital era," said Dr. M. Faisol. He also added, "Inter-cultural collaboration is a crucial part of our ability to endure and compete at the international level. The I-YES Program is one of the ways we introduce students to the importance of establishing connections between the humaniora faculty and the outside world." He stated this before the participants in the theater. In Dr. M. Faisol's view, it is highly possible that alumni of the Faculty of Humaniora will work abroad or in foreign companies. Therefore, facing an increasingly globalized world is not avoidable but must be met with creative and innovative spirits. "Creativity is an essential aspect for us to thrive in this increasingly complex world," he added. By nurturing creativity, students from the Faculty of Humaniora will possess high competitiveness and contribute on a global scale," he further emphasized. Through the I-YES 2023 Program, the Faculty of Humaniora at UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang is committed to providing valuable opportunities for its students to develop knowledge, skills, and inclusive perspectives. Through cross-cultural collaboration and exposure to the international environment, it is hoped that students will be better prepared to face future challenges in an increasingly globally connected world. The opening of I-YES 2023 event was also enlivened by a Jathil dance performance from the Srikandi community at UIN Malang. Jathil is a dance that portrays the agility of mounted warriors practicing on horseback. The agility and skill in battle on horseback are depicted through the dancer's expressions and enthusiasm. This dance performance showcases the beauty and diversity of Indonesian culture, serving as a warm welcome to foreign students arriving from different parts of the world. It is hoped that this program will serve as a stepping stone for wider knowledge and cultural exchange, opening doors for close collaboration and realizing a more harmonious world that appreciates diversity. With a spirit of togetherness, foreign students and the academic community of the Faculty of Humaniora at UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang will embark on this valuable study program for a brighter future in facing global challenges.
