Humaniora I-YES 2024 Officially Launched, Welcomes 17 International Participants

HUMANIORA – (September 9, 2024) The Faculty of Humanities at Universitas Islam Negeri (UIN) Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang officially launched the 2024 International Youth Enhancing Study (I-YES) Program on Monday, September 9, 2024. The event, held at the Faculty’s third-floor theater hall, was filled with enthusiasm, welcoming 17 international students from various parts of the world.
Among this year’s participants were Sarah Ali Qazwan from Yemen, Muhammad Ali and Usama Ahmad Khan from Pakistan, Aya Mohammed AbdAllah from Egypt, Hafizullah Oria from Afghanistan, Rosee Laehseng from Thailand, Eissa Thabit Mohamed from Sudan, Nour El-Rahman Mamdouh from Egypt, Sai Nyi Nyi Aung (Alex Christian Chun) from Taiwan, Ratsimandresy Yeriel Fiandrianana from Madagascar, Gaoussou Coulibaly from Mali, Nidhi Priya from India, and five participants from Turkey: Fatmanur Cerrah, Nergis Esen, Alperen Akköse, Rahmi Kaplan, and Harun Ayvaz.
The theme for I-YES 2024, "Empathy to Action: Sparking Humanitarian Endeavors," is aimed at inspiring and motivating participants to take concrete humanitarian actions.
The opening ceremony was attended by the academic community of UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang, including lecturers, students, staff, and sponsors who supported the implementation of Humaniora I-YES 2024.
In his speech, Dr. M. Faisol, M.Ag., Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, emphasized that the I-YES 2024 Program reflects the faculty's vision towards global education. He stressed the importance of global awareness in education to adapt to the ongoing changes worldwide. "Global education is key to addressing the challenges of the digital era," he remarked.
Dr. Faisol also highlighted the importance of cross-cultural collaboration as a vital element for surviving and thriving in the international arena. He described the I-YES Program as a crucial platform for students to understand the significance of international networking, especially in the field of humanities.
The opening of I-YES 2024 was also enlivened by a Saman dance performance by the Faculty of Humanities' student dance community, showcasing Indonesia’s rich culture as a warm welcome to international participants. The dance reflected the diversity and beauty of local traditions presented with elegance.
The event was officially opened by the Rector of UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang with the ceremonial gong strike, followed by the draping of sashes over the participants. The event concluded with a prayer led by the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Dr. Halimi, marking the formal commencement of the I-YES 2024 program.
It is hoped that through the I-YES 2024 Program, there will be a broader exchange of knowledge and culture, paving the way for closer international collaborations. Through the spirit of unity, international students and the academic community of the Faculty of Humanities are expected to face global challenges with greater confidence and optimism. This program is anticipated to serve as an essential stepping stone in expanding perspectives and strengthening the values of togetherness and diversity. [al]
