Humanities Faculty Launches Community Service Program 2024, Focuses on Enhancing Digital Literacy for Students and Santri

HUMANIORA – (11/6/2024) – The Research and Community Service Laboratory of the Faculty of Humanities at UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang continues its commitment to literacy development within the community. This year, the community service program is focused on developing digital literacy in schools and Islamic boarding schools (pondok pesantren) in East Java, with the aim of improving digital literacy understanding and skills among students and santri.
The program includes two educational institutions: MA Nurul Islam in Mojokerto and Ponpes Miftahul Mubtadiin Al-Hamami in Nganjuk. The selection of these institutions was based on the success of similar programs conducted last year in other educational institutions, such as Pondok Pesantren Annur Bululawang, Ma’had Ali Al Murtadlo, Lembaga Pendidikan Al-Washoya Jombang, Yayasan Pendidikan dan Pengajaran Darussa'adah Gubugklakah, and Madrasah Aliyah in Mojokerto.
The Humanities Faculty's service team collaborates with the administrators and educators of each institution to design digital literacy programs tailored to the needs and characteristics of the schools and pesantren. The primary focus of this program is to enhance digital literacy among students and santri, particularly in the fields of literary and journalistic writing.
Dr. Muntaqim Al-Anshory, Head of the Research and Community Service Laboratory of the Faculty of Humanities, stated, "We are very proud to continue this community service program with a focus on digital literacy. The rapidly evolving digital era requires every individual to have good digital literacy skills. Through this program, we hope to support Islamic educational institutions in facing these challenges while strengthening the students' and santri's abilities in literary and journalistic writing."
This community service involves ten lecturers from the Faculty of Humanities, including Dr. Muntaqim Al-Anshory himself, Dr. Yayuk Widyastuti Herawati, Arief Rahman Hakim, M.Pd.I, Nur Latifah, M.Pd, Med., M. Anwar Mas’adi, MA, Khafid Roziki, M.Pd., Moh. Mahrus Ali, M.Sn., Misbahus Surur, M.Pd, Moch. Said, M.Pd., and Dr. Agus Eko Cahyono, M.Pd. They work together with the administrators and educators at these institutions to design and implement relevant and effective programs.
"We see great enthusiasm from the students and santri in participating in this program," continued Dr. Muntaqim. "With their active involvement, we are optimistic that this program will have a significant positive impact on improving their digital literacy and writing skills. We hope this program can continue and develop, providing tangible contributions to improving the quality of education in East Java."
This community service program not only serves as a platform for the Faculty of Humanities to contribute to the community but also as tangible proof of UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang's commitment to developing students' academic potential and practical skills and supporting educational institutions in facing the advancing digital era.
