Humanities Holds Departure Ceremony for I-SMASH 2024 Participants to Thailand

HUMANIORA – (24/7/2024) The Faculty of Humanities at UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang officially held a departure ceremony for participants of the International Student Mobility and Academic Seminar in Humanities (I-SMASH) program to Thailand on Wednesday, July 24, 2024.
The event, held in the dean's office of the Faculty of Humanities, was attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, Dr. M. Faisol; Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Dr. Halimi; Vice Dean for Cooperation and Student Affairs, Dr. Galuh Nur Rohmah; Head of the Arabic Language and Literature Study Program, Dr. Abdul Basid; Head of the English Literature Study Program, Ribut Wahyudi, Ph.D.; Field Supervising Lecturer, Dr. Abdul Muntaqim Al-Anshori; various lecturers of the Faculty of Humanities; field coordinator, Ahmad Ridho; and all participants of Humaniora I-SMASH 2024. The participants will follow the I-SMASH program for 30 days, from July 18 to August 18, 2024.
In his remarks, Dr. M. Faisol emphasized the importance of the mission carried by the participants. "You carry the mission of the Faculty of Humanities. Therefore, you must uphold good morals and be able to adapt to different environments and cultures,” he advised.
Additionally, Dr. M. Faisol also encouraged the I-SMASH participants to carry out all activities earnestly and make the most of this opportunity. “This is a valuable opportunity. Make sure to utilize it to the fullest,” he said.
In closing his remarks, Dr. M. Faisol expressed his hope that the participants would bring pride to the faculty and university and gain valuable experiences that would support their academic and personal development. “You are representatives of the Faculty of Humanities, UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang. Maintain the good name of our institution by showing courteous, professional, and enthusiastic behavior while in Thailand,” he stressed.
Meanwhile, Dr. Galuh Nur Rohmah, Vice Dean for Cooperation and Student Affairs, also gave her remarks. "The I-SMASH program is an extraordinary opportunity for you to expand your horizons and international networks. Make the most of every moment to learn and share knowledge, and return with experiences that can inspire your friends here," she said.
Dr. Galuh emphasized the importance of good collaboration and communication during the program and hoped that the participants would make positive contributions while in Thailand. “While in Thailand, you will meet students and people who may be different. Build good relationships with them, as a strong international network will be very beneficial for your career and personal development in the future,” she advised.
On the same occasion, Ahmad Ridho, the field coordinator, also gave his testimony. "As the field coordinator, I hope the participants can maintain their enthusiasm and spirit throughout the program. Remember that every experience you gain there will be very valuable for your future. Don't hesitate to ask questions and learn as much as possible," he said.
Ahmad Ridho also emphasized that the entire field team would always be ready to provide support and guidance to the participants throughout the program. He hoped that the participants would take the opportunity to learn and grow: “This program is a golden opportunity to learn from an international perspective. Make the most of every seminar, discussion, and interaction to broaden your academic and cultural horizons,” he said.
The I-SMASH program not only aims to increase student mobility internationally but also to provide firsthand experience in different academic and cultural contexts. By participating in this program, students are expected to develop adaptation, collaboration, and cross-cultural understanding skills that will be very useful in their future careers.
Through this departure ceremony, the Faculty of Humanities at UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang demonstrates its commitment to supporting and facilitating student development to be ready to compete globally.
