
Humanities Students Impress at International Forum SOMRDPE 2024
HUMANIORA – (September 5, 2024) Nine students from the Faculty of Humanities at UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang successfully showcased their vocal talents at a prestigious international event. They were invited by the Minister of Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions, and Transmigration to participate in the opening ceremony of the Senior Official Meeting on Rural Development and Poverty Eradication (SOMRDPE) Indonesia 2024 and the ASEAN Villages Network (AVN) at Singhasari Resort, Batu City, on Thursday, August 29, 2024.
The nine students from the Faculty of Humanities included Qarina Vitri Aulia, Auliya Islakhu Nadziroh, Putri Syakinah, Hilwa Izmi Rumatiga, Kakha Rian Ghifari, Dendy Tegar Desyaputra, Fibra Aura Tasyani, Saddam Syafier Afidzon, and Muhammad Syauqi Fawaid. They are all members of the Gema Gita Bahana choir from UIN Malang.On this occasion, these talented young performers from the Faculty of Humanities presented the song "Zamrud Khatulistiwa" and a medley of traditional songs, captivating the delegates from various ASEAN countries, including Singapore, Thailand, South Korea, Cambodia, Laos, and Malaysia.
Putri Syakinah, one of the choir members, expressed her pride in performing at an event involving many important figures. "Performing Indonesian songs in front of key figures from various ASEAN countries is incredibly prideful. Hopefully, we can continue to deliver stunning performances at other major events in the future," said Putri enthusiastically. Qarina Vitri Aulia added, "The service and experience we received were truly extraordinary."The choir’s mentor, Dr. Peny Respati Yurisa, also expressed her appreciation for the students' achievements. "I am very proud of their accomplishments. The invitation for our Humanities students to participate in this international forum is proof that the education and personal development we have encouraged all this time are yielding remarkable results," said Dr. Peny.
The presence of UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang students at this event not only strengthened their position as ambassadors of art and culture but also demonstrated their ability to compete on an international level. This event was not only a significant moment for them personally but also a source of pride for the Faculty of Humanities and the institution they represent. [al]
