I-CAN: Creating Young Entrepreneurs with Global Competitiveness

HUMANIORA – (29/7/2024) In facing the increasingly complex and dynamic challenges of the job market, having an entrepreneurial spirit is a valuable asset for graduates. Recognizing this, the Faculty of Humanities at UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang continues to innovate by introducing the Humaniora International Career Access Network (I-CAN) program.
This program is designed not only to prepare students and alumni for the global job market but also to foster an entrepreneurial spirit within them. Through various training sessions, mentoring, and networking opportunities with international professionals, I-CAN provides the necessary tools for participants to develop creative and innovative ideas into real businesses.
Linul Qalbi Ashlihatul Mukarramah, a 2020 student of the English Literature program from Malang, shared her experience of participating in this program and how it significantly impacted her skills and knowledge development in the international arena.
Linul's main motivation for joining the I-CAN program was her desire to try something new in entrepreneurship. "I wanted to learn the basics of how to become a good, right, and certainly successful entrepreneur," she said. The I-CAN program provided training in various essential skills such as effective communication with project partners and clients, professional presentation techniques, building chemistry with colleagues, and business attire etiquette. "These skills are very helpful in preparing for my international career," added Linul.
One particularly memorable experience for Linul was when she served as a partnership liaison. In this role, she learned to act as an intermediary between clients and business partners, involving good coordination and communication, promotion, finding effective strategies, and identifying various opportunities to develop the business together. "This experience was truly new and very impressive for me," said Linul.
After participating in the I-CAN program, Linul saw future career opportunities opening up widely. According to her, success in this program greatly depends on active participation and the willingness to keep learning. "It's not just about attending a three-day workshop, but also staying committed and continuing to learn over the last three months," she explained. Linul hopes that the I-CAN program will continue to offer many positive and beneficial projects, not only for active students but also for alumni, especially fresh graduates. "This could be a great start if implemented consistently," she added.
The Humaniora I-CAN program is not just a training program but a crucial bridge for students to access and develop international careers. With the various skills and practical experiences provided, this program equips students with the abilities needed in the global job market. The real experiences of participants like Linul Qalbi Ashlihatul Mukarramah show that this program has a significant positive impact in preparing them for future career challenges.
By continuing to develop programs like Humaniora I-CAN, the Faculty of Humanities at UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang is committed to producing graduates who are ready to compete and contribute in the international job market. There is great hope that this program will continue to provide broader benefits for all students and alumni. [al]
