I-YES Participants Immersed in History and Culture at Kampoeng Heritage Kajoetangan

HUMANIORA – (10/9/2024) In addition to touring Malang City on the Macito bus, on the first day of the Humanities International Youth Enhancing Study (I-YES) 2024, participants visited Kampoeng Heritage Kajoetangan in the heart of Malang City on Monday (9/9). This visit was one of the main activities aimed at introducing international participants to the cultural and historical heritage of Malang.

Located not far from Malang City Hall and Alun-Alun, this area is part of Kauman Village, Klojen District, and is known as one of the oldest villages in the city. The village has been around since the 13th century, making it a silent witness to Malang's historical journey.

The I-YES participants enjoyed the remnants of colonial-era grandeur and the old, historical buildings in this area. Among the historical sites in Kampoeng Kajoetangan are Mbah Honggo's tomb, Tandak Cemetery, an old Langgar, Talun Market, and tunnels from the past, all of which offer visitors a rich historical experience.

As one of Malang's leading heritage tourist destinations, Kampoeng Kajoetangan features a heritage concept that emphasizes culture, history, and economy. Well-preserved old houses are the main attraction, many of which have been transformed into captivating tourist spots. The I-YES 2024 participants were awestruck by the beauty and rich history of the area.
