Latest Survey Shows Majority of Humanities Graduates Absorbed into Job Market

HUMANIORA – (August 30, 2024) The Faculty of Humanities at UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang recently completed a tracer study for the graduates of 2022. This study aimed to evaluate the employment rate of graduates and identify the successes and challenges faced by alumni in entering the workforce.
In this study, the Faculty of Humanities successfully gathered responses from 306 alumni, comprising 161 graduates from the Arabic Language and Literature program and 145 graduates from the English Literature program. The study was conducted based on Scomburg's survey theory and took place from early February to the end of June 2024.
The results of the tracer study revealed that the employment rate of graduates reached 61%. A detailed breakdown shows that 50% of graduates from the Arabic Language and Literature program have been absorbed into the job market, while the English Literature program demonstrated a higher employment rate of 72%.
Furthermore, 16% of the graduates from the Faculty of Humanities reported choosing to pursue entrepreneurship, with the remaining graduates continuing their studies at the master's level.
This study provides valuable insights into the success of the Faculty of Humanities in preparing its graduates to enter the job market and highlights areas that still require further attention to enhance the alignment between educational curricula and market needs. [aii]
