Psycholinguistics Expert from UIN Malang Shares Knowledge at General Stadium of UIN Jakarta

HUMANIORA – (4/6/2024) The Faculty of Humanities at UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang sent one of its best lecturers, Dr. Rohmani Nur Indah, to conduct a General Stadium session at the English Language and Literature Study Program of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. The event, held on June 3, 2024, focused on the theme "Psycholinguistics: An Introductory Note" and was attended with great enthusiasm by both lecturers and students from the English Language and Literature Study Program at UIN Jakarta.
Dr. Rohmani Nur Indah, known as an expert in the field of psycholinguistics, delivered an in-depth presentation on how psycholinguistics can help understand the relationship between language and the human mind. "Psycholinguistics is not just about learning languages, but also about how language influences the way we think and act," explained Dr. Rohmani.
In her presentation, Dr. Rohmani covered various interesting topics in psycholinguistics, such as the process of language acquisition in children, the comprehension of word and sentence meaning, and the use of language in communication. This presentation not only captured the attention of the students but also received positive responses from the lecturers of the English Language and Literature Study Program at UIN Jakarta.
The Head of the English Language and Literature Study Program at FAH UIN Jakarta, Inayatul Chusna, M.Hum., stated that the material presented by Dr. Rohmani would be used as a reference for incorporating psycholinguistics courses into the curriculum during the upcoming curriculum review. "This week, the FAH English Study Program will begin a marathon of meetings in preparation for reaccreditation as its status is still B. One of the curriculum changes we are considering is the inclusion of psycholinguistics courses to add variety to thesis topics, which have started to become saturated," she said.
Inayatul Chusna also expressed her appreciation to the Faculty of Humanities at UIN Malang for their willingness to share knowledge through this General Stadium. She hoped that the collaboration between the two universities could continue to be enhanced in the future.
This event is expected to encourage more lecturers and students to explore the field of psycholinguistics, open up new research opportunities, and enrich their understanding of the relationship between language and the human mind. With a spirit of collaboration and innovation, both institutions hope to achieve significant progress in the fields of linguistic and psycholinguistic studies in Indonesia. [al]
