
Strengthening Academic Culture, Humanities Launches R&W Program
HUMANIORA - (6/3/2024) The Faculty of Humanities at UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang launched the Reading and Writing (R&W) program and officially inaugurated Humanities Language Day in front of the Faculty of Humanities Office on Wednesday, March 6, 2024. This event marks a concrete step in enhancing reading and writing skills for students of the Faculty of Humanities.
Attended by students and faculty members of the Faculty of Humanities, this event is the result of collaboration between the Self Access Center (SAC) unit and the Arabic Language and Literature and English Language and Literature study programs. The aim of this program is to cultivate reading and writing habits and to form study groups focused on literacy and language skills within the Faculty of Humanities environment.In his speech, the Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, Dr. M. Faisol, expressed his support for this initiative. He emphasized the urgency of improving writing and reading skills as the main foundation for facing the dynamics of knowledge and technology development.
"Humanities Language Day is an opportunity for all of us to understand the importance of language as a means of communication and a vessel of knowledge. Reading and writing skills are the main foundation for the success of every student in their studies and in entering the workforce," said Dr. M. Faisol.In this R&W program, students can share knowledge, deepen their understanding of texts, and practice creative writing skills. This activity is expected to produce a generation of students from the Faculty of Humanities who have competent language and literacy skills.
Meanwhile, the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs of the Faculty of Humanities, Dr. Halimi, hopes that Humanities Language Day can become a tradition that boosts the spirit of students in developing themselves in the field of language and literature."The better the writing and reading skills, the more prepared students are to face the demands of the job market and the development of knowledge," he said.
With the support and commitment from the leadership and all elements of the Faculty of Humanities, this activity is expected to be the starting point towards improving the quality of literacy (reading and writing) and language within the academic environment. Students are invited to actively participate in this activity to enrich their experience and knowledge in the world of literacy and language. [al]
