Strengthening Improvement Efforts, Humanities Faculty Involves Students in Academic Evaluation

HUMANIORA – (August 15, 2024) The Faculty of Humanities at UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang conducted an Evaluation of Learning, Student Activities, and Faculty Facilities on Thursday, August 15, 2024. This event was held online and attended by student representatives from semesters 3, 5, and 7. The evaluation is part of the faculty's ongoing efforts to enhance the quality of education, student welfare, and available facilities to ensure the teaching and learning process runs optimally.
In his opening remarks, the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Dr. Halimi, emphasized the importance of this evaluation as a means to gather feedback from students on various aspects of the faculty. "This evaluation is a strategic step for all of us to collectively identify what has been going well and what still needs improvement. Through this evaluation, we hope to continuously improve the quality of academic services, student activities, and the facilities at the Faculty of Humanities. Your input is invaluable in creating a conducive learning environment that supports academic excellence," said Dr. Halimi.
The event was divided into several sessions involving interactive discussions between students and the faculty. Students were given the opportunity to voice their opinions, suggestions, and concerns related to learning, student activities, and the facilities available at the faculty. The discussions were constructive, with each student’s input receiving direct responses from the faculty leaders. In the learning evaluation session, students highlighted the importance of adjusting teaching methods to be more interactive and adaptive to technological advancements. They also expressed a desire for the curriculum to be more relevant to the needs of the job market. Additionally, during the student activities session, students emphasized the need for increased support for extracurricular activities that can develop soft skills and expand professional networks. Meanwhile, in the facilities evaluation session, students expressed their hopes that the faculty's facilities, particularly those related to technology and learning spaces, would continue to be improved to support a more effective teaching and learning process.
This evaluation event served as a crucial moment for the Faculty of Humanities to reflect and plan for future improvements. With active student participation in providing feedback, the faculty is expected to be more responsive to the needs and challenges faced by the students.
Dr. Halimi closed the event by expressing his appreciation to all participants who actively took part in the evaluation. "We greatly appreciate all the feedback provided. This evaluation is part of our commitment to always listen to and involve students in every improvement process within this faculty. Let’s continue to collaborate to make the Faculty of Humanities an even better and higher-quality place of learning," he concluded.
