TVA 4th Session: Dr. Muzakki Presents Innovation and Change in English Teaching Practice
HUMANIORA – (21/8/2024) The Teacher Virtual Academy (TVA) program continued its training sessions, entering its 4th meeting on July 31, 2024, with the theme "Innovation and Change in Teaching Practice." This session featured Dr. Muzakki Afifuddin, M.Pd., a linguistics expert and lecturer at the Faculty of Humanities, UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang, as the main speaker. The program is designed to provide training and competency development for English teachers from elementary to secondary levels across Indonesia.
"Innovation is not just about adopting new technology, but also about understanding the local context and how small changes can make a big impact on the learning process. Teachers must become agents of change who can identify specific needs in their classrooms and apply innovative strategies accordingly," said Dr. Muzakki.

In the training, which was conducted online through the Humanities E-Learning Oasis (HELO) platform, Dr. Muzakki emphasized the importance for teachers to recognize and analyze local situations that require innovation and change in their teaching practices. He asserted that educators must be able to explore various relevant innovations that have the potential to enhance the effectiveness of classroom teaching.

He then guided the participants to implement these innovations and changes in the classroom. This implementation focuses not only on classroom teaching but also on how teachers can apply their innovative teaching practices using various relevant learning media, including auditory, visual, and even interactive multimedia. This aims to ensure that the innovations made have a broader impact and inspire fellow educators in different regions. The lecturer from the English Literature Study Program, who enjoys singing, further emphasized that the urgency of these innovations lies in the pressing need for change in teaching practices amidst the challenges faced by the education world today. Dr. Muzakki hopes that with the right innovations and changes, educators will be able to improve the quality of education and make a greater positive impact on students.
"Innovation and change applied correctly not only enhance the quality of education but also equip students with relevant skills to face future challenges," stressed Dr. Muzakki, highlighting the crucial role of teachers in creating a dynamic and adaptive learning environment.Through this training, participants are expected to step out of their comfort zones and take new steps that can change the dynamics of classroom teaching. The TVA program, overall, aims to create a community of teachers who are adaptive, innovative, and able to respond quickly to changes in the increasingly complex world of education. [al]
