Two Humanities Students from UIN Malang Achieve Best Article Award in MIJ 2023
HUMANIORA – (8/6/2024) Two students from the Faculty of Humanities at UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang have once again demonstrated outstanding academic achievements. Aulia Maratus Solehah and Zaqhlul Ammar were awarded the best writer titles in the Maliki Interdisciplinary Journal (MIJ) 2023 for having the lowest Turnitin scores. Aulia and Zaqhlul managed to outperform 1,017 other articles with Turnitin results of 2 percent and 4 percent, respectively.
Meanwhile, Zaqhlul Ammar’s article, titled "Theological Problems in Modern Islamic Society," explores various theological challenges faced by contemporary Islamic society . In his writing, Zaqhlul highlights the degradation of Islamic knowledge and its impact on the development and education of human character in the modern era. He also discusses social changes and the shift towards a materialistic mindset, which negatively affects various aspects of Islamic society’s life.
Aulia Maratus Solehah’s article, titled "The Effect of Rhyming Words on Creating Mood in Adi Kusrianto’s Poem 'Beautiful Mourn'" , shows how the use of rhyme can create a certain mood in poetry, earning her this prestigious award. In her article, Aulia analyzes the poem "Beautiful Mourn" using Attridge’s (1995) theory. The article focuses on how six different words that rhyme—turned, dead, head, thorns, storm, and mourns—contribute to shaping the poem’s aesthetic and emotional qualities.

The Maliki Interdisciplinary Journal (MIJ) is a platform for UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang students to publish conceptual thoughts, reviews of scientific works, and research results across various disciplines, such as bioinformatics, neuroeconomics, medical physics, Islamic economics, language and literature, and other fields. Articles published in MIJ go through a rigorous selection process by experts in related fields, ensuring that only the best works are published. The Vice Dean for Academic Affairs of the Faculty of Humanities, Dr. Halimi, congratulated the two students on their achievements. "I am very proud and appreciate the accomplishments of Aulia and Zaqhlul. Their success in achieving the best titles in MIJ is concrete proof of their dedication and hard work in the academic field.
