
Vice Rector for Academic Affairs of UIN Malang Officially Opens I-YES 2023
HUMANIORA – (8/7/2023) The Humaniora International Youth Enhancing Study (I-YES) 2023 program was officially inaugurated by the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Prof. Dr. Hj. Umi Sumbulah, M.Ag., on August 7, 2023, at the third-floor theater of the Faculty of Humaniora. On this occasion, she congratulated and wished success to the Faculty of Humaniora for organizing the International Youth Enhancing Study (I-YES) program for the year 2023.
In her address, Prof. Umi Sumbulah provided full support for the implementation of the I-YES 2023 program. She also acknowledged that the I-YES 2023 activity plays a vital role in enhancing the reputation and recognition of the university, thereby contributing to the realization of UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang's vision.
"Based on UIN Malang's vision of excellence and international reputation, programs that lead to excellence and internationalization are very much needed," she said.
Furthermore, Prof. Umi Sumbulah also expressed hope that the I-YES program would continue to be held regularly to provide a broader opportunity for foreign students to come to UIN Malang.
"Efforts to internationalize the university and faculties continue, and one of these efforts is through the Humaniora I-YES program," she stated.
On the other hand, Prof. Umi Sumbulah also stated that the Humaniora I-YES Program is in line with the agenda of the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, which mandates that Indonesian Religious Higher Education Institutions should be a driving force in building an inclusive, tolerant, moderate, and justice-based understanding of religion.
"The I-YES Program is in line with the Ministry's program in realizing an inclusive, egalitarian, tolerant, and moderate understanding of religion," she remarked.
Following her address, Prof. Dr. Umi Sumbulah M.Ag. performed a gong-striking session in front of the participants as a sign of the official opening of the Humaniora I-YES 2023 program.
The support from the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs demonstrates the commitment of the Faculty of Humaniora UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang in delivering quality international programs that have a positive impact on students and the academic community. Moreover, this activity aligns with the university's vision and mission in creating competitive, cultured graduates with global perspectives.
With full support from the campus leadership, the I-YES 2023 program is expected to continue growing and providing real benefits for students in preparing them to face global challenges in the future.
